Practice and professional experience
Catherine joined Kilburn & Strode in 2013, having previously worked at another firm of patent and trademark attorneys. Catherine handles a wide range of work including the drafting of new patent applications as well as the prosecution of patent applications, principally in chemistry, pharmaceutical, security item and nutritional composition fields. She also has experience in preparing validity and freedom to operate opinions as well as conducting IP due diligence. Her clients include universities, start-ups as well as chemical and pharmaceutical companies.
Catherine graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Her PhD at the Max-Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology focussed on the synthesis of a library of tetramic acid molecules and the study of their activity in cancer cells.
Catherine is one of the founding and current bloggers for The SPC Blog, a specialised blog on all topics around supplementary protection certificates.
In addition to English, Catherine is also fluent in German, French and Thai.
