Life Sciences and Chemistry team welcomes a new Senior Associate

We are delighted to welcome new Senior Associate Mark Abthorpe to our Life Sciences and Chemistry team. Mark joins us as a lateral hire from another London-based firm of patent and trade mark attorneys.

As a European and UK patent attorney with over a decade of experience in the profession, Mark has worked with inventions in a wide variety of fields, in particular:

Industrial chemistry: commercial-scale chemical synthesis, nanotechnology, waste management

Consumer products: contact lenses, absorbent articles, skincare compositions

Pharmaceuticals: NCEs, polymorphs, dosage forms, second medical uses

Medical devices: surgical instruments and implants, blood glucose analytic systems

He has been trusted by a range of clients, including well-known multinationals, to handle their European work from initial filing all the way to post-grant appeals, as well as co-ordinating their global prosecution and revocation proceedings. His clients appreciate his well-reasoned, clear advice, and his focus on achieving their commercial goals.

At Kilburn & Strode, Mark will be working closely alongside Elizabeth Crooks, Kristina Cornish and Kathryn Eldridge, focussing primarily on managing a number of the portfolios of a major industrial chemistry client, specialising in low global warming replacements for use primarily in refrigeration.

Partner Elizabeth Crooks comments: 'With his proven track record in handling a broad range of technologies for major players in their sectors, Mark’s hire represents a significant step in the ongoing expansion   of the firm’s Life Sciences and Chemistry practice. We are thrilled to welcome him to the team.'
