Olivia specialises in physics-related inventions. Her PhD thesis relates to high-energy astrophysics, for which she studied and researched on particle acceleration and the radiative processes. After finishing her PhD, Olivia joined the IP profession in 2007 training with a top tear IP firm in Leeds. She became an associate in 2014 at another top tier IP firm in Brighton before joining Kilburn & Strode in October 2019.
Olivia is experienced in handling patent and design work in the UK, Europe, China, Japan and the U.S. She has drafted and prosecuted patent applications in the fields of mechanical and electronic engineering, software, computer network, and medical devices. She has extensive experience of working directly with inventors and in-house counsels, including large tech companies in the UK and overseas, and has a keen interest in working with start-up companies.
Olivia is a native Cantonese speaker and has a working knowledge of Mandarin Chinese. As part of her training, she spent a month on secondment with a major intellectual property law firm in China. She has given seminars on European IP to Chinese companies at a number of in-house seminars and conferences.
