Top Tier ranking in Legal 500 for patent and trade mark teams

Kilburn & Strode is pleased to announce our Top Tier ranking in the latest edition Legal 500 for UK Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys. The firm has been noted for all-round excellence and our partners have been individually recognised for their industry expertise. Our patents team were quoted as ‘very determined and as ‘going the extra mile’. The trade marks team have been recognised for its strong reputation with clients.

The patents team has seven partners recommended: Kristina Cornish, Gwilym Roberts, Tim Copsey, Jim Miller, Nick Lee, Richard Howson and Robin Lloyd. Additionally, the publication recognises our large client roster. From the Life Sciences and Chemistry practice, Kristina Cornish has been recognised for leading the team and defending Janssen Pharmaceutica against a revocation by Sandoz and Hexal in relation to its HIV-related drug Prezista. Also recommended from the team is Nick Lee for his work representing Harvard College in its European patent for its gene editing technology CRISPR.

Legal 500 also recognises our Electrical and Engineering groups. Gwilym Roberts has been recognised for acting for Container Development in an opposition appeal pertaining to its new design for the top of a drinks can, which is more protective than a standard drinks can. Tim Copsey and Jim Miller are mentioned for their defence of Keter Plastics against a revocation by an anonymous party in relation to its Easy Go Breeze bucket. Richard Howson has been recognised for this work with Ecotricity on its global patent protection strategy. Howson also worked alongside Robin Lloyd in assisting Reaction Engines with its UK patent grants regarding the pre-cooler of one of its rocket engines.

Our trade marks team’s has three partners recommended. Carrollanne Lindley has been recognised as leading the team and recently advised on filing new trade marks in the UK. Iain Stewart is described a ‘key figure’ who assisted Samsung with clearing the trade mark 'Bixby', which is the name of its voice assistant software. Ryan Pixton is also recommended and worked on filing and prosecution matters for TCC Global, which creates loyalty campaigns for Tesco, Shell and Spar.
