Gender disparity in innovation

Gender disparity in innovation

Associate Emily Collins from our Technology team has published an article in IP Magazine titled “Gender disparity in innovation”.

The article reviews and applauds the achievements of female innovators and is available to subscribers via this link.

Emily looks at the proportion of women in STEM and the proportion of female inventors named for their inventions. She also explores the gender balance of patent attorneys within the profession.

Emily’s analysis of the stark differences in these figures points towards the underlying issues the IP industry is still faced with, and concludes with her views on closing the gender gap in innovation for good.

Emily has previously written about female representation amongst innovators and overcoming gender stereotypes to inspire young girls to pursue a career in science. Read her article about Little Miss Inventor.
