Aaron graduated from Imperial College London with a first class bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering and a distinction master’s degree in Computing. During his bachelor’s degree he was awarded the Morgan Advanced Ceramics Undergraduate Prize for his excellent experimental analysis and written work. In addition, he took part in several research placements involving the fabrication of transparent conducting oxides and the theoretical calculation of X-ray photoelectron spectra of amino acids, the latter of which contributed towards a published paper.

During his master’s degree, Aaron was involved in a blockchain-based project, developing a de-fi aggregator of cryptocurrency pools for liquidity providers. His MSc dissertation involved creating an interactive application using OpenGL graphics to visualise electron transport through organic molecules. His master’s studies included machine learning and computer vision modules, where he worked on coding projects involving decision trees, neural networks, image classification and image filtering. His experience in computing, including working in languages from C++, Python and Java to Matlab and Golang, gives him up-to-date, cutting edge insight into a range of technologies, including machine learning, blockchain and software.

His engineering background also makes him particularly suited to advise clients on inventions involving nanomaterials, glasses, biomaterials and ceramics. Aaron’s knowledge makes him well equipped to handle a wide variety of technologies, such as new nanofabrication techniques, impact resistant glasses, bioactive implants and high temperature ceramic coatings. From his experience as a personal tutor teaching students STEM subjects throughout university, he has honed his ability to communicate even difficult concepts in a clear and concise manner.

Aaron has developed a multicultural outlook from living in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Amsterdam, London and Toronto. He is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, proficient in Japanese and also speaks Dutch.

Aaron joined Kilburn & Strode as a Trainee Patent Attorney in October 2021 and is currently training to become a UK and European patent attorney.
