Alex is a trainee in our Life Sciences and Chemistry group and is currently training towards UK and European qualification. His practice is mainly focused within the chemistry sector, in particular pharmaceutical chemistry, synthetic chemistry, formulations and materials.
 
Alex has experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, managing worldwide portfolios, and conducting infringement and patentability searches. Alex is also well placed in providing support for SMEs, having previously been involved in due diligence activities. 
 
Alex joined Kilburn & Strode in 2023 having previously trained at another firm. Prior to joining the profession, Alex graduated with a first class Masters degree in Chemistry from Durham University. In his final year he was particularly interested in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry and chemical biology. During this year, he undertook a research project focused on the development of a toolbox of chemical probes useful for studying the activity of kinases in parasitic protozoa, such as Leishmania. Additionally, he gained experience in machine learning and bioinformatics whilst working on a project to predict the specific biological targets of his chemical probes.
