Practical and approachable, Barbara is highly skilled in IP portfolio creation and risk and opportunity management. With extensive experience designing and implementing complex, global IP strategies, she is valued by her clients for her bespoke and proactive approach to meeting commercial needs and her straightforward advice.

Barbara’s technical focus is in two primary fields: medical technologies and robotics. In the MedTech space, she has particular experience working in the fields of surgical devices, delivery and dosing devices, diagnostic and testing apparatuses and patient monitoring systems. Her work in the field of robotics ranges from robotically assisted micro-surgery to large-scale fulfilment and production technologies. Focused on keeping the big-picture in mind, Barbara confidently assists clients navigating the IP landscape with a close eye on both risk and opportunity. She regularly advises on risk mitigation activities such as competitor surveillance and freedom-to-operate, freedom-of-action and due diligence analyses, as well as on early- and late-stage M&A opportunity assessment.

Alongside her strategic advice, as an experienced European, UK and Irish patent attorney Barbara confidently handles cradle-to-grave IP matters in Europe, including invention capture, drafting, prosecution and inter partes oppositions and appeals before the EPO. Barbara also brings her deep understanding of the European patent landscape to global portfolio matters, making her an ideal steward for multi-jurisdictional matters.
