Benni’s academic background is wide-ranging, having gained his Master’s degree in Physics with Philosophy from the University of Manchester. His strong grounding in physics and mathematics allows him to advise clients across a wide range of sectors in relation to both mechanical and software-based innovations.
 
Benni frequently advises both established businesses and early stage start-ups on how best to protect their intellectual property. His work to date includes handling patent prosecution for multi-national medical device and aviation companies, as well as drafting patents and assisting in the creation of IP portfolios for trailblazing music technology, fintech and aerosol systems companies.
 
A particular area of Benni’s expertise is his ability advise clients on how to protect software-based inventions, particularly in relation to patenting algorithms, software applications and machine learning processes. He has drafted and prosecuted numerous applications in the blockchain, distributed ledger and AI spaces, where cutting edge computer science meets healthcare, business and finance.
 
Benni also has significant experience in advising clients on contentious matters, having been involved in design invalidity actions before the EU IPO as well as patent oppositions and appeals at the EPO. Recently, he has assisted a world-leading fintech company in devising their offensive and defensive European litigation and enforcement strategies.
