Faysal is a Trainee Patent Attorney in the Life Sciences & Chemistry group at Kilburn & Strode and is currently training to become a UK and European Patent Attorney.

Faysal has recently completed his PhD research in Medical Imaging Chemistry at both King’s College London and Imperial College London, where his research focused on combining two different imaging techniques, namely MRI and optical imaging, through the use of a dual-modal contrast agent.

During his academic career, Faysal has worked on numerous research projects that have given him a range of expertise covering areas such as organic chemistry, lanthanide chemistry, nanomaterials, and medical imaging to name a few. Faysal is also a keen advocate for improving the uptake of Black students into higher education and was recently awarded several faculty and departmental prizes by Imperial College London for his efforts.

Prior to this, Faysal graduated from the University of Bristol with an MSci degree in Chemistry with Industrial Experience. His final year research project focused on the synthesis of air-stable tertiary phosphines, employing an extended π-conjugated system. As part of his degree, Faysal also undertook a one-year placement at Charles River Laboratories where he worked on several research projects targeting a wide range of therapeutic areas, all of which were at the latter stages of the lead optimisation phase.

Outside of work, Faysal is a keen cyclist and can often be found tackling the hills of north London.
