Kate is a European and UK qualified patent attorney in the Life Sciences and Chemistry team at Kilburn & Strode.
Kate’s practice focuses on a variety of technologies in the chemical field, including pharmaceutical chemistry and industrial chemistry (in particular polymers and low Global Warming Potential fluorocarbons). She has experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in Europe and worldwide for a variety of clients, ranging from universities to multinational corporations. She also has experience in coordinating prosecution of large global patent families and advising on infringement and validity issues.
Kate particularly enjoys providing tailored advice to clients to develop a robust IP strategy which is in line with her clients’ commercial and strategic needs. She enjoys working closely with her clients to understand their business objectives and requirements so she can provide strategic advice to allow them to maximise their IP portfolios to meet those objectives.
Kate has valuable in-house experience gained during a secondment at a multinational pharmaceutical company, which allows her to provide commercial, pragmatic advice to her clients.
Kate holds a PhD in Chemistry from Imperial College London. Her research focused on investigating the synthesis and functionalisation of small heterocycles as fragments in drug discovery. During her time in academia she authored several academic papers.
