Nathan has significant experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a wide range of technical areas, from mechanical inventions through to electronics and computer software. Nathan prides himself on high-quality drafting and a meticulous approach to prosecution, underpinned by his forensic attention to detail. He has notable recent expertise in a large-scale multi-faceted freedom-to-operate analysis, including advising on non-infringement and invalidity in relation to competitor patents.

Nathan has a first class Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Durham University, providing him with a broad engineering grounding that allows him to rapidly grasp new technologies. He is an expert in prosecuting patent applications that lie on the borderline of patentability, including software, gaming, and finance-related inventions, and regularly lectures at Brunel University on the UK and EPO approaches to examining software-related inventions. 

Nathan strives to live a low-carbon lifestyle, and is eager to work with companies that provide sustainable solutions that align with his values.
