Alberto's experience spans a variety of fields in the life sciences sector, with a particular focus on biological therapeutics, vaccines, stem cells, microbiology, precision fermentation and food & drink inventions.
Alberto works closely with clients to formulate global IP strategies which support the client’s business and commercial needs. His day-to-day work involves using his technical knowledge to gain a deep understanding of client's inventions, and applying this to draft and prosecute patent applications to grant as part of complex, multi-territory portfolios.
Alberto has significant experience in assisting clients with freedom-to-operate analysis prior to commercialisation, particularly in the fields of diagnostic devices and assays, stem cells therapies and the food & drink industry. He also has experience in conducting due diligence for clients making crucial business decisions.
Notably, Alberto has experience with assisting a global pharmaceutical company with their filing strategy and European prosecution relating to a breakthrough antibody therapeutic.
Alberto has a first class Master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford. He also completed a PhD at the University of Manchester, focussing on the discovery of novel bioactive natural products from bacteria, and the biosynthetic engineering of existing natural product-derived drugs.
Outside of the office, Alberto spends his time playing football, boxing and cooking.
