Alberto graduated with a first class Master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford in 2017. In his final year, he worked on the development of a protein-peptide bioconjugation technology, and ultimately contributed to its successful commercialisation.
This sparked his interest in intellectual property, as he was involved in the filing of patent applications related to his research.

He then completed a PhD in Biochemistry at the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology. His research focused on the discovery of novel bioactive natural products from bacteria, and the biosynthetic engineering of existing natural product-derived drugs. During this time, he spent 2 months at the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), developing expertise in natural product extraction and purification. Combined, his studies provided him with experience in microbiology, biotechnology, bioinformatics and analytical chemistry.

In his spare time, Alberto enjoys anything football-related, and tapping into his Italian heritage in the kitchen.

Alberto joined Kilburn & Strode as a Trainee Patent Attorney in the Life Sciences & Chemistry group in October 2021 and is currently training to qualify as a Chartered UK and European Patent Attorney.
