Ash is an experienced patent attorney in our Tech & Eng team. His background in physics gives him a deep understanding of a wide range of inventions, enabling him to advise clients in diverse technical fields.

His particular interest is in the field of medical technology, where he works with companies of all sizes, advising on global patent portfolios for life-saving medical devices and ground-breaking diagnostic tools. He worked for many years assisting a leading UK medical device company in the field of electrosurgery, helping them to develop a portfolio of over 100 patent families and advising on freedom-to-operate risks as they brought their devices to market.

Recently, he played a key role in guiding engineers at a major defence company to recognise when they generate protectable ideas and understand the commercial value of the IP they create, helping to build the company’s IP strategy. He also regularly assists clients in protecting their innovations in telecommunications, fintech and data storage technologies.
