Hugo joined Kilburn & Strode in 2024 as a Trainee Patent Attorney in the Life Sciences & Chemistry group, where he is training to become a Chartered UK and European Patent Attorney.

Hugo graduated with an integrated Master’s degree in Chemistry for Drug Discovery from the University of Bath in 2022. His final year research project was developing online reaction monitoring of photo-induced polymerisation reactions using FlowNMR, within the University’s Dynamic Reaction Monitoring suite. During his undergraduate studies, he received sponsorship from the Royal Society of Chemistry to undertake a research project in tuning the formation of polymer gels through controlled radical polymerisation.

He then went on to complete a postgraduate Master’s degree in Advanced Molecular Synthesis at Imperial College London. His work, in collaboration with a global commodity chemicals company, focused on industrial chemistry were he developed intrinsically safe and efficient micro chemical flow reactors for controlling highly exothermic reactions. During this time he worked closely with his sponsors in their flow chemistry division and has showcased his work at international conferences and events.
