Clients rely on Laura as a pragmatic strategist for their patent portfolio, even in the stickiest situations. For more than 20 years, Laura has been a close ally to clients looking to clear a path in their IP landscape - whether that’s building a suite of defensive IP or negotiating around competitor IP. Laura was short-listed in 2025 for Patent Practitioner of the Year (UK) by Managing IP.

Laura is known for her expertise as an advocate, having honed her skills in hundreds of opposition and appeal cases at the EPO. She was relied upon by AutoStore AS to successfully defend one of their key “Central Cavity” robot patents before the EPO Board of Appeal in 2023 during litigation. Laura is particularly familiar with the EPO’s Technical Board of Appeal 3.2.06, which handles cases in mechanical engineering, transportation, textiles and fibre manufacturing.

Laura is active as a UPC Representative. In 2024 she was one of the first UK patent attorneys to present at the Paris Central Division, in revocation actions concerning a medical device patent. She is well-accustomed to working in a litigation team for multi-jurisdiction patent disputes. Laura can advise on all aspects of UPC infringement and validity proceedings. She has already helped several clients in UPC cases running at the Nordic-Baltic regional and German local divisions, in parallel with EPO oppositions. Laura brings her many years of experience in dealing with contentious European patent issues, whether it’s a matter of coordinating litigation or successfully reaching a settlement. She always seeks a commercial and sensible outcome. Laura has been recognised in the Legal 500 by her clients as being both innovative and practical in her approach.

With an academic background in physics and materials science, Laura particularly embraces technologies arising in the healthcare and cleantech industries. In 2024 she managed a huge IP audit for a major renewable energy company. She is also passionate about helping medtech companies to protect their innovations and ensure that they reach patients.
