Sharon Lai is Assistant General Counsel at Micron Technology, an industry leader and American producer of innovative memory and data storage solutions which are used in many of today’s smartphones, computers, and automobiles. At Micron, Sharon advises global teams on commercial and intellectual property matters, and is responsible for negotiating and closing licensing arrangements, supplier agreements, electronic design automation agreements, as well as collaboration and development agreements. Before joining Micron, Sharon was a director of intellectual property at Volvo Cars, and served as a strategist and thought leader that provided counselling to executive leaders as well as engineering, procurement and business teams on a wide range of IP and commercial matters including those raised by licensing, technology development, cross-border transactions, and protecting intellectual property assets and inventions. Prior to going in-house, Sharon worked at Reed Smith where she advised fast-growing and established technology companies on transactional and litigation matters. Sharon holds undergraduate degrees in Molecular and Cell Biology and English Literature from UC Berkeley, and JD/MBA from Syracuse University. She is licensed to practice before the USPTO and in California.
