Experienced Senior Associate joins the Electronics and IT group

We’re thrilled to announce our new joiner, Karen Fraser. Karen primarily works in the IT, software and telecoms space. Much of her work is based around computer-implemented inventions that lie close to the border of patentability in Europe and the UK. She is particularly experienced in working with clients to identify aspects of their inventions that are eligible for patent protection in that field.

Karen has a very impressive background and joins us from a large, well-renowned European IP firm in London. She has been in the patent profession since 2004; qualifying in India in 2005 and qualifying as a European and UK patent attorney in 2011.

She will be working closely with Partner Alexander Korenberg, recognised as a leader in IP Strategy (IAM Strategy 300) and also well known for his European expertise. IAM Patent 1000 in 2017 noted Alexander ‘is the perfect partner for clients seeking pan-European protection’.

Alexander, commenting on Karen’s recent hire, says:

It is always great news when we add yet another brilliant member to our team, who provides technical excellence paired with strategic insight to meet our clients’ needs. Our focus is on getting the best people on the Kilburn & Strode team. Our people work at the cutting edge of innovation. More importantly, they build relationships with our clients and work closely with them to achieve their commercial goals. Karen perfectly fits that description, and I am excited to work closely with her to meet our clients needs and keep exceeding their expectations.

We’re already keeping Karen busy. She has just been interviewed by Future Power Technology about her insights on the best strategies for IP due diligence in the highly competitive area of wind power technology. She will be representing the firm at the Managing IP Women Leadership Forum in San Jose in November, where she will be speaking on a panel - discussing strategies and new ideas for successfully protecting software innovation and data, from a European perspective. Karen will also be speaking at the Global Intellectual Property Conference in India in January 2018.

Let us keep you up to date. If you’d like to receive communications from us, ranging from breaking news to technical updates, thought leadership to event invitations, please let us know.
