Latest lessons from the EPO – our webinar on the most important 2021 EPO case law

We were delighted to host our ‘Latest lessons from the EPO’ webinar on 28 March 2022 covering the most important decisions made by the Boards of Appeal and Enlarged Board of Appeal at the EPO in 2021.

In the webinar (chaired by Elizabeth Crooks);

  • Amy Nick, Jess Smart and Rob Coates cover decisions with takeaway practice points relating to a wide range of technical subject-matter (including second medical uses, polymorphs and computer-related inventions) as well as decisions that apply to every technical field (e.g. description amendments);

  • Michael Newton discusses plausibility at the EPO and the significance of the Enlarged Board of Appeal referral in T0116/18;

  • Dan Wood explores the future of oral proceedings by videoconference (G1/21); and

  • Jess Smart clarifies whether and why a European patent application can be refused on the basis of double patenting (G4/19).
